I am pleased to welcome the participants of IX International Chess Tournament “World’s Youth Stars” Vanya Somov’s memorial!
Chess is more than just a game, especially for young person. Chess is a way of living, school of life and a very life for somebody.
This ancient but ever-young art could have become if not a life meaning for Vanya Somov, but it’s important part at least. Much to our regret the fate hasn’t allowed this to happen. But cherished memory of the talented boy still lives in people’s hearts. Chess tournament which takes place in Kirishi for several years is a bright sunny reflection of this memory.
The first thing I would like to wish youth chess players is to develop their will, power and strength of character. The natural abilities will never reach the full growth without these features. Generally speaking, each young person who wants to be successful needs persistence and sense of purpose. That is why chess is so important in personality development.
